FETE, Champagne for breakfast

You may remember the photos I shot for FETE before, well we are back in the gardens and this time with the beautiful Juju.

I am so happy to share this shoot I did for my friend and colleague, Emily came to intern for me at Wildfox during my favorite years there, and she ended up as my full time assistant. Emily has magic in her fingertips, she went on to create this beautiful line that celebrates the petite girl. It is so her- magic, lace and easy bake ovens.

Very proud and happy to support such a wonderful woman. Hope you enjoy the photos we created together.

God Save Queens, Welcome to Exile

I was lucky enough to art direct and shoot the latest God Save Queens lingerie campaign, a beautiful polish brand with stunning undies.

I imagine queens through the ages in their underwear, this one I felt pulled by a 17th century queen, a mistress and a confidant. After becoming vampires they are exiled into the country where they live alone, pining in their underwear, feeding on pet birds and reading Justine by Marquis De Sade over and over again.

I look forward to more campaigns with God Save Queens in the future, along with more of my own secret projects so keep following for updates!

Enjoy!

VENICE MYSTIC

I recently shot the Blue Life Venice Mystic look book! So lovely to work with Jena Goldsack again while she was in town, was really feeling the henna palm reader for Planet Blue, she lives in this mystical home near the water where she does psychic readings out of her kitchen, surfs in the morning, makes magical mushroom toast for breakfast, and looks into her own future on a daily basis.

Thank you to all the amazing people who worked on this look book, the Planet Blue girls are truly magical, caring, giving, supportive and kind. It shows in the product and the store, it shows in the shoots.

Haven't had enough? Here's more! Flip through the slideshow for lots of outtakes!!

Here is my inspiration behind it all

What is the inspiration of this new collection?

What is the inspiration of this new collection?

This past year was quite a turbulent one for me, and it seems maybe for the world also! I think I had this overall feeling of wanting to escape and live off the land, I visualized a group of girls with a whole lot of passion and fearlessness and absolutely nothing to lose. They would beg, borrow, steal their way through countries, hypnotizing boys and working odd jobs to make a little money. Their lives were only for each other and themselves, there was a freedom in the collection, a way for me to feel it along with them even though I worked harder than ever to bring it to life!

Who are your ideal muses for this collection (from any era)?

When I was 23 I would go to tons of festivals, really hippy ones, and I made these fleeting friendships that were fast but have been so important to me in my lifetime. These girls were so free, one was a nudist and she had beautiful long blonde hair and we did lots of body painting on people together, one was this fantastic artist who wore just thrown together scraps of printed clothing she'd collected along her life path, she had natural dreadlocks that formed under her hair and she wore them in a bun. Another was an Indian belly dancer at Burning Man, a dancer by night but an engineer by day… she was bold and beautiful without a touch of makeup, but she wore great coal liner when she danced, two opposite identities at peace with each other.

What made you identify with and/or choose this concept?

There is something so carefree about your early 20s, and I just missed this feeling of electricity, about being able to run off at the last minute, quit your job and not look back… or just take a risk with something big, your 30's you carry evidence of your 20s… like beautiful, luxurious baggage, I love my baggage and I wanted to give a nod to it with this collection.

If you could sum up the Spring 15 collection in one word, song, or destination what would it be?

Honestly Shakira's "I'm a gypsy" while I was driving on a road trip was what sparked the whole thing, which is silly but I friggin love that song.

Provide three adjectives that best describe Spring 15:

Free, spiritual, bold

Name three staple styles from this collection you would recommend to the Wildfox customer:

I love the friendship tees (Like the eat, pray, love ones) and the mismatched prints the most! I also love the white label pieces, they are so traveling girl!

What is your personal favorite piece in this collection and why?

The White label poncho, because I would have worn that to every festival ever. These girls are the new Coachella… the new glastonbury… this is definitely a festival collection.

At home with (pregnant) Amanda Booth

I was lucky enough to have our favorite muse give us the news of her pregnancy this year, and who better to model the WILDFOX Pea in the Pod Maternity wear than Amanda Booth? I hope you enjoy this inside look of Amanda Booth's life.

Photos: Kimberley Gordon

Model: Amanda Booth

Amanda’s slight frame is such that when she has her back to you, you can hardly tell she’s pregnant. It isn’t impossible, however, to notice the slight waddle as she pitter patters barefoot across the kitchen tiles to search her freezer for ice cream. As she looks back at me, she turns ever so slightly, revealing a beautiful and significant belly bump. She is picturesque and glowing, although I must admit she is always glowing, even without the magic of maternity, stopping people in their tracks as she walks by, the trait of a natural model.

Amanda has been shooting with us since Wildfox’s earliest years, and it is touching to see such a kind and giving person succeed so well. She is the epitomy of the American Dream. An actress, a model, the wife of a sexy designer and motorcycle connoisseur, the owner of a delightful, humble little home in Venice,  she’ll soon be mother, too, to a little boy named Micah.

Amanda puts on a Wildfox pink, string bikini, and I follow her as she pads out to the garage where her husband, Mike, is working on his bike. “Can you help us get the Cruiser out, babe?” she asks. He smiles at her bulging belly barely contained by the little bikini bottom, and backs a sea foam green machine out to the street for us. As we walk off the driveway, he says, “Nice butt, babe” relishing the sight of his wife and fellow parent, still his dream girl. It isn’t by luck that Amanda seemingly has it all. She has worked hard and been incredibly nice to everyone on her way up, making intelligent, strategic, and sometimes even daring decisions, including to bare all as the centerfold for Playboy’s February 2014 issue.

Impressively intelligent, funny and aggravatingly beautiful, Amanda makes me laugh as we drive over to the beach with her candid accounts of modeling in Paris. She tells me unbelievable stories of a shoot with Ellen Von Unwerth and how Mike inadvertently became her co star and landed his own page in Ellen’s giant, velvet covered book. We park and head out to the sand, two of the three of us (one unborn, but very present) reveling in the sunset, the oddness of Venice beach and its strange characters.

Splashing in the waves, I can’t help but feel thankful to be alive and living here in this giant city of Los Angeles, and who better to share it with than the inspiring Amanda Booth.

Take a glimpse below into the warm and wonderful home of our long time muse. Enjoy!

-Kimberley Gordon

Royal Romance, WILDFOX summer 2014

I'm so excited to share our summer romance collection with you, it means so much to me!

This last year has been really crazy for me when it comes to love... I got the love of my life back and felt swept away by happiness! It made me truly understand love better and I wanted to dedicate a collection to how I felt for him. He is going through a hard medical condition and my girlfriends were immediately there for us in ways I couldn't have imagined. It made me see that true love really comes in 3 forms, family friendship and romance, even the family you make for yourself... we need all equally! I felt certain revelations from going through such intense issues, and for the first time I understood marriage and what it meant to commit yourself to love, I understood children and what it meant to start a family, I think I began to see love in a real way outside of the fairy tale, and what it meant in life. I found it fascinating to think about the fairy tale romance that I have all my life believed in, and I was sort of sad to let it go. For me this collection is a love letter to my imagination and how I have to remember to use it even when things get hard.

For the inspiration this season I really felt a connection to the 60's and royalty, I thought of a princess trapped and forced into marriage, but who was secretly in love with a soldier, maybe she elopes with him in the end. I liked how she was sad, but also so alive! She relied on her friends and sisters to make it through things, and no matter how rich with material goods, it would still be a struggle to find happiness in herself.

Listen to: Moon River by Henri Mancini

Personal favorite piece:
Probably the I married an Angel because I want to be able to wear that about my guy sometime soon!

The gorgeous muses this season:

Queeny Queeny Van der Zande, Camilla Christensen, and their "little sister" Dacoda

Roller Girl! Wildfox Swim, Cruise 2013/14

Excited to release this fun, kitschy shoot of our cruise swim line! Very 70's and 80's inspired look to go with our retro swim wear. XX

"She’s got her skates laced up tight and she’s soaring down Venice BLVD. She is
a true bombshell, igniting the super sexy, 70’s poster girl inside her. Sometimes she
misses her hometown in Brazil, the culture, the energy and bright colors, but California is the ultimate substitute. She lives for mornings at the beach, taking a run on the sand and
swimming laps against the waves. At night she’s still got her bikini and roller skates in
her purse as she heads to a dance party. With her giant sunglasses and rainbow 2-piece
she DJ’s until her fingers hurt. She is the life of the party, and everybody loves her.
When she gets home she cuddles her pet rabbit and climbs into her giant, cozy
bed covered in crochet, white blankets. She falls asleep to the sound of the ocean,
dreaming of strawberry smoothies, her summer playlist and diving into the sea. Her tiny apartment in Venice  Beach  is all she needs, its big windows open letting in the salty breeze, the sound of her roommates laughing, and her slightly scuffed skates, tossed off at the edge of the bed."

Dancing all night with your friends, investing in a giant trampoline for your backyard, swimming like you have a mermaid tail, arranging a game of capture the flag, riding bikes by the sea, racing boys, learning to march ROTC style, doing musical theatre, giving your girlfriend a piggy back ride, kiss chase, trying to learn britney spears 90’s video  dance routines in your living room, ping pong championships, bowling, re-arranging your furniture (without help), practicing your dive, learning ballet (even if you are terrible), swing dancing with a live jazz band, salsa dancing down town, running through festivals, rollerskating rinks, playing tennis, starry night hikes, kissing (that must burn some calories, right?)  - Love kimberley gordon

The leg warmers were made especially for shooting, but maybe if we get enough requests we can make them to sell on our site... let's see!

Wildfox White Label SS 2013, Shopaholic!

I am a total, absolute, shopping addict. The whole phrase "retail therapy" is like... well, my life. The high (and guilt) from shopping is unlike anything else, and when I can, I put it to use. This is definitely something to laugh about as long as you don't have too bad a case of it (100K of debt, 70 credit cards, all you think about, talk about, etc....) I began to imagine what my shopping addiction would look like if it was its own beast outside of me, it's own feminine character – What would she look like? And so the White Label collection shoot was born: a diamond obsessed monster with glitter for hair and shoes made out of chandelier crystals, she's sort of 90's (like my high school days) sort of 80's (like my obsession for St. Elmo's Fire and Demi Moore's bedroom) and sort of absolutely insane. This girl sleeps in high heels, puts glitter in her cereal and watches infomercials all night long. She's a little bit clueless, a little bit crazy, and a little bit me... hopefully she's also a little bit you.

And who else other than our gorgeous muse Amanda Booth to model it?
