The Feeling of summer... WILDFOX 2015

Our summer collection is finally here, and clothing will hit the online store first thing tomorrow morning, WILDFOX.COM and will be getting more and more product over the next 3 months! So cute and easy and so many things to throw on with your friends for a beach trip! I wanted the collection to have the feeling of reading an easy summer beach house novel, with addicting female characters staying at their beach house in the Hamptons, they are 1970’s New Yorkers that Woody Allen would have obsessed about. I also wanted to convey the true feeling of summer, what it is to me; going barefoot down the back path out onto the beach, coming back to the house after a long day in the sun with big easy T shirts and slightly sunburned skin. I love in the summer when you have all your girlfriends in the house and there are wet bikinis strewn in the shower, sunscreens and perfumes all over the sink counters, the smell of bacon at 11am… Dad singing in the kitchen, and just the freedom to do nothing, maybe a little shellfish grocery shopping at the corner market and blasting Frank Sinatra in an old family vacation home. I love in the summer when you’ve been out late with the girls and wake up together in bed, sand all over the sheets, still wearing your bathing suit with just a hoodie on over it. Summer is magic. California has almost a permanent summer and growing up here leaves you with tons of unforgettable beach memories, but what I really love is after the beach… the parents house that you laze around in and call boys for hours to arrange that nights bonfire.

My muses were absolutely Dianne Keaton circa 1970’s, and also my girlfriends in High school who are just stunning and wild… we were unstoppable in the summer.

Honestly I couldn’t sum this up with a paragraph, that’s why I was so compelled to write a short story. I hope you enjoy it!!

I love this version by Michael Buble, I know it's cheesy but it's so feel good summer to me! Play it while you read and look through the images :)

Wildfox White Label SS 2013, Shopaholic!

I am a total, absolute, shopping addict. The whole phrase "retail therapy" is like... well, my life. The high (and guilt) from shopping is unlike anything else, and when I can, I put it to use. This is definitely something to laugh about as long as you don't have too bad a case of it (100K of debt, 70 credit cards, all you think about, talk about, etc....) I began to imagine what my shopping addiction would look like if it was its own beast outside of me, it's own feminine character – What would she look like? And so the White Label collection shoot was born: a diamond obsessed monster with glitter for hair and shoes made out of chandelier crystals, she's sort of 90's (like my high school days) sort of 80's (like my obsession for St. Elmo's Fire and Demi Moore's bedroom) and sort of absolutely insane. This girl sleeps in high heels, puts glitter in her cereal and watches infomercials all night long. She's a little bit clueless, a little bit crazy, and a little bit me... hopefully she's also a little bit you.

And who else other than our gorgeous muse Amanda Booth to model it?

For this collection we also had "designer editions" so there will only be about 15 of each of these items in each color sold on our website exclusively, you will have to act fast to get them!! If they sell enough maybe we will put out a few more ;)

Granny's Closet!! Wildfox Resort 2012/13

I am so excited to show you our resort collection that comes out this November, and right after is our swimwear (woo hoo!!) This shoot was so much fun, it has such a sense of humor and I hope you guys love it.

It was spoken so beautifully by Audrey Hepburn, “I believe in manicures. I believe in overdressing. I believe in primping at leisure and wearing lipstick. I believe in pink. I believe happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day, and... I believe in miracles.”

Going to Grandmas house as a kid you don’t really think of her as a young woman, you see her as she is, old and maybe a bit crabby, hilarious and totally picky, wearing outfits she’s had since the 60’s mixed with incredibly funny 80’s sweat suits and orthopedic shoes. You see her napping with a book on her chest, glasses slipping down her nose, her cat perched on the edge of the sofa like a sphinx, it smells like an antique store mixed with something sweet, you try to imagine your mother growing up with her, going to bed in this house, maybe you stare at those sun bleached pictures Gran’s got stored away under her huge, white vanity.  Her cat ornaments fill the edge of the glass table, you try on her pearl earrings and polka dot bangles, sparkling costume diamonds and dark red lipstick, looking in the mirror for a second you can almost picture her, 18, summertime, crushing over the Paul Newman look-alike lifeguard at the lake, or 21 years old laughing with her girlfriends over gin martinis in nude thigh highs and pin curls. It’s hard to imagine that granny, but when you see one of those old photos of her it can be fantastically over whelming... this is where you came from!

This collection is a tribute to granny and her perfectly mismatched style, her love of cats, jewels, travels and gardening, her hair that she never cuts, the old mansion she bought in the 90’s with the last of her savings, her big glasses she always wears to brunch, and that grandma spirit we all know and adore.

Wildfox Sale

Wildfox sale!

You want it, and we hear you! Here's your guide to Wildfox sale.

The best place to find Wildfox sale items is on our online store. The next best place is at our sample sales, which are held on in downtown Los Angeles. Here, you're bound to find California cool Wildfox tees, sweaters, dresses, and sweatpants from the current and previous seasons. You might even find a special Wildfox Couture item that you can't find anywhere else! If you'd like to attend one of our sample sales, you should follow us on Twitter or like us on Facebook. We always tweet invitations to our sales. At Wildfox, we love our breezy beach babes, so we always keep you in the loop.

Sales are held on select Fridays at our showroom at the Cooper Design Space at 9th and Los Angeles (860 S Los Angeles Street). It's cash only, so make sure you stop at the ATM first! Here's a photo of our pretty pastel showroom.

And this is what our sample sales sometimes look like!

We usually have graphic tees, baggy beach jumpers, dresses, pants, shorts, and sweaters on sale. Pieces on sale will be from our current collection, but you can get a sneak peak of our upcoming seasons in the showroom. We might even have some pieces from our new swimwear line, which showed on the runway in 2010, and launched Spring 2011. You might even get to meet Nicole, our showroom and sales superstar, or Kim & Emily - the designer duo behind the magic at Wildfox Couture!

If you're not in LA, you can still find Wildfox sale items. We usually have a sale section on our website. Another option is to find sale items through your local Wildfox retailers, which you can find listed here. Another option is browsing our online retailers. Wildfox is stocked by major retailers such as Urban Outfitters, Bloomingdales, and Nordstrom (April 5th!).

Until you can get your hands on Wildfox sale items, you can check out our new collaboration with the amazing author Francesca Lia Block called Magical Creatures. It's a story about three different Wildfox girls with candy-colored hair. They live in a magical world of iced watermelon cream soda in the sun and big warm mugs of coffee by the window when it rains. Or, watch our latest lookbook video for our Spring 2012 Season.[vimeo 37764985 w=400 h=225]

Pre-Fall 2012
Magical Creatures

Magical Creatures is a story written for Wildfox by critically acclaimed author, Francesca Lia Block. Francesca has been an inspiration for Wildfox creators, Emily Faulstich and Kimberley Gordon, since before the birth of Wildfox in 2007.  Together Francesca, Emily and Kim have based a collection of dreamy T shirts on the story of 3 very different, magical girls who live in our favorite Wildfox cities – Ella, a fairy from Los Angeles, Cherie, a gypsy from Paris, and Dahlia, a witch from New York.  Francesca tells a story of these three girls and their important friendship, a metaphorical weaving of magic and mystery, beautiful clothes, and romantic back drops.

“When I first moved to Los Angeles I was so scared.  It was a maze of crazy nights and hazy days in an unknown city filled with strangers and endless possibilities.  Reading Francesca Lia Block’s series, Dangerous Angels: The Weetzie Bat Books, helped show me the beauty in this city.  The sparkling lights and billboards on sunset, the spirit and love of the canyons, the romantic ghosts of past celebrities, the lingering Santa Ana Winds, pink houses, Jacaranda trees, and hot cement roads.  Francesca’s writing was always one of my main inspirations.  When starting Wildfox, she was there in my mind, sculpting characters and helping me be strong enough to live my dreams!  Now we’ve had the chance to collaborate with her and it’s been a dream come true to work with her amazing imagination.” – Kimberley Gordon, co-designer

Now you can share in the love of Francesca and Wildfox and decide which girl you are.  Read the whole story, meet the characters, and see more inspiration for the collection at: www.magicalcreature.com

Wildfox Couture’s Spring 2012 collection is a nod to the western film genre, encapsulating its movie stars like Faye Dunaway and Clint Eastwood on set in costume with big hair, cowboy boots, prop guns strapped to their hips, and the romanticism behind spaghetti westerns of the 1960’s. Designers Emily Faulstich and Kimberley Gordon say, “We drew a large part of inspiration from the eloquent, romantic book by Tom Robbins, Even Cowgirls Get the Blues – which is littered with incredible euphemisms and powerful insights into the lonely but astonishing lives of outcast cowgirls. Robbins reveals the power, pain, and humor behind the life of a solitary cowgirl with words that are moving, touching and hilarious. We hope to have captured the same feelings with our new collection.”

Spring graphics are inspired by vintage style western t-shirts and western gothic romance with crosses and guns, cow skulls and birds, and old sayings in western fonts. The color palette is an array of soft pastels focused on lavender, baby blue and baby pink, with splashes of Desert Sun neon yellow and Cactus Cooler tangerine.
